I am thrilled to announce my first post in the Forest-Monitor blog! It has been a long time since I was planning to make my own blog about the forest sector. But, it was after a short conversation with Rafal Chudy during a conference in Florida – USA that I decide to accept the challenge and get my hands dirty.
As it is my first post, I will only present myself and describe how the blog is going to work; I am from Brazil and a Ph.D. candidate in Forestry and Natural Resources at the North Carolina State University. Over the last 5 years, I have worked as Forest Economist in many projects; I have experience in harvest scheduling, economic and financial analysis and, forest appraisal.
My research focus is on international trade of timber products, timber prices modeling and economic development. I will post my results and papers on the blog as soon as they are available.
This blog supposes to work as a mean to interact my ideas and thoughts in Forest Economics with my reader. As a researcher, I would love to spread the most up-to-date papers in the Forest Sectors. In addition, I plan to post interviews with the main professionals in the sector about the perspectives and future of the forest market.
I hope you enjoy the information available here and bring lots of discussions.
